Matthew 5:
1 One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him,
2 and he began to teach them.
3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.


Blessed (makarios) - This is an internal blessing unlike    eulogeo that means external blessing prosper

Review:
Blessed are those who are poor in spirit…. Those who are totally bankrupt before God and see their need for Him
Blessed are those who Mourn…. Those who mourn over there sins against God will be blessed
Blessed are the meek… Meekness is not weakness, it is Strength under control of the Holy Spirit

Key verse: 6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

1. What is Justice/Righteousness?
Justice/Righteousness - dikaiosuna - innocent, holy, absolute, complete rightness, correctness, and perfection in every area…

Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

2.  What does it mean to Hunger and Thirst???

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Psalm 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When shall I come and appear before God?

John 7:37. On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

John 6:35. And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

3.  What does it mean to be filled?
Filled - chortazo - (means to gorge supply food in abundance)…. Filled to the fullest… (loosen your belt)…. You are satisfied…

Psalm 107:9 For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Jeremiah 31:14 … And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.”
