Joel 7

Sermon Title: “The Lord Dwells in Zion”
Text: Joel 3:17-21 NLT
17 “Then you will know that I, the Lord your God, live in Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy forever, and foreign armies will never conquer her again. 18 In that day the mountains will drip with sweet wine, and the hills will flow with milk. Water will fill the streambeds of Judah, and a fountain will burst forth from the Lord’s Temple, watering the arid valley of acacias. 19 But Egypt will become a wasteland and Edom will become a wilderness, because they attacked the people of Judah and killed innocent people in their land. 20 “But Judah will be filled with people forever, and Jerusalem will endure through all generations. 21 I will pardon my people’s crimes, which I have not yet pardoned; and I, the Lord, will make my home in Jerusalem with my people.”
I. GOD’S PRESENCE ASSURES HIS PEOPLE (v. 17)
“Revelation 21:3:
“The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His servants will worship Him.”
Revelation 21:27: “Nothing unclean will ever enter it.”
John 10:28-29 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else.[a] No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.
Hebrews 13:5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
II. GOD’S PROVISION OVERFLOWS TO HIS PEOPLE (v. 18)
“In that day the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the streambeds of Judah shall flow with water; and a fountain shall come forth from the house of the Lord and water the Valley of Shittim.”
John 10:10: “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
III. GOD’S JUSTICE VINDICATES HIS PEOPLE (vv. 19–21)
“Egypt shall become a desolation and Edom a desolate wilderness… But Judah shall be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem to all generations. I will avenge their blood, for the Lord dwells in Zion.”
Revelation 6:10: “O Sovereign Lord… how long before you will judge and avenge our blood?”
