The Apostles Creed

Apostles Creed  - From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; Born of the Virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate; Was crucified, died and buried; He descended into Hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

John 14:3  When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

1 Peter 4:4-7 Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. 5 But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead. 6 That is why the Good News was preached to those who are now dead—so although they were destined to die like all people, they now live forever with God in the Spirit.

He is coming again

It means he will come personally.
John 14:3  When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

It means he will come literally.
Acts 1:11. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”

It means he will come visibly.
1 Thessalonians 4:16a For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout…

It means he will come suddenly.
Matthew 24:27  For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.

It means it will both be expected and unexpected
1 Thessalonians 5:2-5 For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. 3 When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.4 But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. 5 For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night.

We will have a Changed life as Believers
1 Peter 4:4 Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.

We will ALL be Judge
1 Peter 4:5 But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead.

We are ALL Destined to Die
1 Peter 4:5-6 That is why the Good News was preached to those who are now dead—so although they were destined to die like all people, they now live forever with God in the Spirit.

1 John 2:1-2 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
